Thus stretch is part of Chennai Metro Phase 2 Corridor 3 of Madhavaram Milk Colony - Siruseri Sipcot. It is underground / elevated section. Contractor : RVNL & L&T
At SRP Tools junction it will be underground section. After SRP Tools it will be constructed as elevated section.
Taramani metro, Nehru Nagar, Kandanchavadi, Perungudi, Thoraipakkam, Mettukuppam, PTC, Okkiyampet, Karapakkam, Okkiyam Thoraipakkam & Sozhinganallur are the metro stations will be constructed in this stretch.
Pillar work almost completed. Pier cap and U girder launch work need to be complete.

Perungalathur flyover arm opens to traffic. Tambaram to Chengalpattu direction flyover arm opens to traffic today August 1st, 2024. This flyover length is around 832 metre All flyover arm at gst road portion opens to traffic. Remaining flyover arm is towards Gandhi road ( Sadanandapuram ) need to be complete. Latest update As the MRTS will have only one line between Fort and Beach (one of the two MRTS tracks has been taken over for the fourth line owing to land acquisition issues), the commuters are worried about the maintenance of frequency once the normal services resume from Beach.

@@sivacelvan6494 I think in expressway road, speed limit varies, only cars allowed to go around 100 , Heavy vehicles like Lorry, Bus will be permitted to 80. Two wheelers not allowed mostly in expressway. Speed cameras installed at every 10 km in expressway which is directly connected to police control room. Those who exceed speed limit, automatic challan will be issued instantly.

Also there is proposal to construct Sriperumbudur - Maduravoyal Elevated road at existing Chennai - Bengaluru National Highway in the median. Already Maduravoyal - Chennai Port double decker elevated expressway work has been restarted ( but currently work has been slow down ) . If the proposed elevated corridor work completed it will have direct connection to Chennai Port
Can it handle too much traffic
Based on demand it will be extended to six or eight lane in future by utilising the vacant space in median
